You Are A Perfect Candidate for the Dream Act

Q.

My name is Marco Perez I am an illegal immigrant from Gresham, Oregon. I have lived in the United States since I entered in 1995 at age 3. This is the only country I know. I currently graduated from High School and I want to go on to College. I was wondering if the Dream Act passes would I be able to benefit from it. Would it help so that I can get an I.D and drivers license because up to now, I have been working under the table and I get paid under the table. I want a normal job so I don't have to be stressing if they pay me or...

DNA Does Not Lie; Your Wife is the Liar

Q.

Hi sir,

I am a U.S. citizen and I had 2 children before leaving Nigeria.  I had filed for them but they were refused visas because the DNA test result did not match. The test was repeated and the result came back the same as the first one. Their mother insists they are mine and I want to believe her but it’s hard to do so because of the DNA test report. Is there any other way I can take to file for these children? Apart from the DNA issue I love these children a lot and I have been the only father in their life. I have been responsible for them and their up keep until now. They are actually in the University already. I need your help...

Inaccurate Information could lead to Denial of Citizenship

Q.

Dear Editor:

I have been a subscriber to your newspaper since December 2007. I find the printed material quite informative and I congratulate you for the good work. I am submitting to you the following personal request for information and help. My wife who is a legal immigrant since 2001 lost her canceled passport which contained all pertinent information about her trips for several years. She will be applying for citizenship this year and she has no other source of accurate information for the exact dates of her trips abroad and dates of return. How can she prove her trips when filing the application form for Naturalization and also during the interview? I wonder if the attorney for the ASK THE LAWYER column has seen a case like...

You Need A Change of Law to Get Green Card, Be Hopeful

Q.

Dear Sir,

I arrived in the US on an F1 visa in January 2000, at age 30.  In 2004, I dropped out of school because my funds for tuition ran out.  That same year 2004, my mom filed I-130 for me while she was a green card holder.   It was approved. The priority date is April 2005. My mom is still a Green card holder (not a citizen). Can you help me to get approved for Green Card due to the fact that I have fallen out of status already?  My mom put me on the street in 2009, and I now reside in the shelter system.  I...

Q.

Greetings Mr. Famuyide,

My name is V. I currently residing in Phoenix, AZ. I have read the information that you posted online regarding How to Handle Notice to Appear Before Immigration Court. I received a letter of Notice to Appear few weeks ago, there is no court date yet, it says that the date is to be set. I came into the United States as an H2B visa (temporary worker) in 2008. While on the H2B visa, I got married in 2009, but things did not work out and we did not go to our 2nd interview. In October 2010 I filed for divorce. I am now waiting for the divorce to be finalized. Unfortunately, I received this...
