Newsflash:

Massive Children Migrants from South America Spoil The Chances of Immigration Reform in 2014

rtr3rfo6.siIt is still not clear how so many children from South America managed to enter the United States through the southern border, but what is clear is that they have succeeded in spoiling the chances of any meaningful immigration reform this year.

Prior to recent times, the passage of any immigration bill through the Congress would be hard to sell for President Obama. It has now become even harder with the massive children migration to the United States through what appears to be a porous U.S. southern border.

According to statistics available online, in “June, 10,628 unaccompanied children and 16,300 adults with kids were caught. Similar numbers were seen in May, and the number of kids caught crossing was greater than 7,000 in both March and April, the DHS said. The number of unaccompanied children caught crossing the southwest border is still far higher than in past years. Almost 63,000 unaccompanied children were caught at the border from October 1, 2013 to July 31, 2014, compared with around 31,500 in the year prior.”

The critics of the President on immigration reform were just given the too to work with to prevent any benefit granting reform at least for this year. President Obama will have to go alone using executive order if he is really serious with helping immigrants who are already in the United States. Unfortunately, the only thing he will be able to grant will be employment authorization cards through the extension of the deferred action to all ilegal aliens in the United States.

Americans are divided on what to do with these children. Some are of the opinion that they should be deported immediately while others want them to be allowed to stay in the United States. Whether or not they are allowed to stay might not change the fact that their migration enmass has strained the narrative that the passage of benefit granting immigration reform is good for America.

All immigrants in the United States must look into other avenue to obtain immigration benefits. Immigrants from the current troubled spots all over the world might want to consider asylum, withholding and Convention against torture. Other options include cancellation of removal, marriage, provisional waiver and so on.

This is no longer the time to continue to wait for President Obama because he has been promising comprehensive immigration reform for about 6years without any positive movement along that line. Be proactive about your case.
