The incessant ice raids and arrests of immigrants at their workplace, homes and inside public transportation such as Greyhound buses are storms before the expected calm. All immigrants who survive these raids will be crowned with permanent resident status at the end of the day. USI News encourages you to protect yourself.

 

One can no longer gainsay the fact that immigrants have made tremendous contribution to the growth of America into the super-power she is today. Whether legal or illegal, everyone has made one contribution or the other. From picking oranges on the farm in Florida to washing plates in the famous restaurants of New York, immigrants are the fabrics that hold the American economy together.

It is so pathetic to see a country which once had pleasure welcoming immigrants degenerate into an immigrant Police State. Imagine all immigrants in New York City not showing up for work on a particular day; the City of New York with all her glory and glamour will be grounded. Americans must wake up to reality, immigrants are here to stay. Rather than ostracize them and create enemies within America for America, a better policy is that which will assimilate them. The immigrants in the U.S. today must be encouraged to become stakeholders in molding the future of America.

All immigrants must know that the current storm of raids and arrests are such that will surely go away. It is, therefore, imperative for immigrants to go low profile and protect themselves so they could survive the storm and experience the calm.

Immigration reform is one of the legislative agenda of the 110th Congress. The President is committed to signing any comprehensive immigration reform bill that might come before him. It is no longer whether it will happen; it is a matter of when. Endure the storm now so you could enjoy the calm.

Remember the election of November 2006, statistics show that the failure of the comprehensive immigration reform bill before the 109th Congress was one of the issues that drown the Republicans even in pro-Iraq States. The Republicans cannot afford to make the same mistake twice. Greater stake is the Presidential election of 2008. The candidates are numerous, the issues are countless, but one important voting block that the Republicans cannot afford to lose is the immigrants? voting block. Immigrants used the voting power effectively in 2006, if no immigration reform bill is passed, immigrants should hold the Republicans responsible at the poll.

One important step you must take to protect yourself is to avoid any rendezvous with the Police. All criminal tendencies that could lead to your arrest and deny you the enjoyment of the calm when the comprehensive immigration reform bill is eventually passed must be put away.

Avoid traveling with Greyhound buses, especially to border cities. Reports reaching USI News suggests that officers of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency routinely board these buses to arrest any immigrant they might find. Once arrested, you could be placed on the fast track to deportation.

Lastly, avoid clubs and night parties where any little issue could bring the police. As you know, once an unruly behavior is exhibited it is an open invitation to the police to arrest anyone within the vicinity of the crime. It is true that once the culprits are identified, the innocent will be released, but an illegal immigrant will not be considered innocent since your presence in the U.S. is a violation of the law.
